13. What’s your favorite culture to write, fictional or not?
Or, well, maybe not, actually.
I do like writing about modern Japanese culture, because I think it's interesting what mores have developed since Occidental forced itself upon Oriental. (I am informed that these terms are now pejorative and I shouldn't have used them. Mea culpa!) I try to approach nuances with the attitude of a human being curious about another, rather than as a god damn "sugoi!"-sighing weeaboo. For weeabooness, I do have Amantsu, where the point is weeaboo, and also ninja.
I also obviously like writing about Graycloaks, but I'm not sure that's a fair answer because if I get something wrong, you'll never know about it.
For sheer nerdiness, I like Eldarin culture - that's Tolkien elves, not Warhammer. This is because the internets is awesome and if I get something wrong about elves, you had better believe that people will call me on it, with charts.
