16. Do you write romantic relationships? How do you do with those, and how “far” are you willing to go in your writing? ;)

I do write romantic relationships, although I'm not very good with them; I've noticed that I have a disproportionately high number of widows and widowers among my second-tier protagonists, and the number of happily-married or -associated persons is relatively low. In fact, off the top of my head, I can only think of Adini and Charya Dhaumradana, or Rill and Lin Mountjoy as a happy couple.

As for the halves of happy couples that I write, there's ... Amakusa Kenrou, who is just about married to Takamori Chikara. I suppose Kan'jin and Aranruth also count, with the odd detour into death knighting and Maelstroms along the way.

I don't even know; I tend to think in terms of relationships, and let the qualifiers take care of themselves. Like, Greyspell and Embersong are in a deep relationship, but it sure as hell isn't romantic.

As for how "far" I'm willing to go in my writing, that question irks me with its cute phrasing. If I'm RPing with someone, chances are very good that if the characters are going to have sex - and seven gets you two that they won't - I prefer to go to blackscreen and be all, "THEY HAD SEX. IT WAS AWESOME. Now they will do something else."

If I'm writing out the scene, chances are equally good that if I'm not writing specifically porn - and sometimes: I do that - I'll just fuzz out and go to the next morning. Some people can write sex well; some can't. I'm in the latter camp, and will instead go write about flippin ninjas or the old ultraviolence.
