No, I've just been dithering over this question and the one that followed it for a while, because I think it's another one of those unfair questions:
17. Favorite protagonist and why!
I hesitate to label him a protagonist, that's why.
I think that I have three favorite protagonists, each of them for different reasons. The first up is Dion Morningstar, who interests me because I try not to write from his point of view, but only seeing his actions and words from the outside. He is in a hugely difficult situation, and has to consider the weight of his opinions every time he acts, when this isn't in his nature. I like him because he strikes a good balance between wanting to serve, with all his heart, and giving him some things he wants for himself, and also there is a scene with him that I think is one of the greatest things ever written, because: he laughs, and from that follows all the rage and war in the world.
The second is Amakusa Kenrou, who delights me in many ways. He's so confident in himself, and serene in the fact that he's rad, that nothing ever flummoxes him. He is just so ... fun to watch in action, and comforting. He's a lot more comfortable now that he's Hotohori instead of Kunzite; Excellence born of Love is a great deal less rigid than just plain Winter. .. Also I get to write haiku.
The third is - much to my surprise - shaping up to be Dara. She's just so interesting; it's hard to write her without her being full of expositions, since she is a stranger in a very strange land, but when I can get it to pay off, it's amazing, like her watching Siddharsvara with the dasa, or figuring out what Laikhaila is up to with the red bonds. It is rad! And I like Dara, she tries to be fair but she has herself a good mad or a good sulk sometimes. Also, she's not ... pretty, but she's surrounded by fae-people of milkstone and raven-sheen, and she thinks to herself that they don't know everything beautiful. This pleases me.
Tomorrow is the favorite antagonist, and I'm like, seriously? Seriously? For realzz? 'Favorite' questions give me the pip.
